Synopsis:Le Cigare Volant, an ultra-decadent restaurant in an up market New Delhi hotel, plays host to the deluded chatter of the titular ‘pricks’ in “Dinner for Pricks”, a satirical musical theatre production poking fun at the high-strung elite of the city. Three tables in the restaurant, seating a motley crew of dysfunctional characters, see most of the action, as hilarity ensues, following abundant liquor (of course). Casual jibes about loveless sex, debauchery, farcical ‘relationships’, and a mirage of pomposity dictate proceedings, setting the tone for a level of absurdity that captures the clueless vapidity of today. Of course, you are an inherent part of it as well: The fourth wall slowly melts away, with our eccentric waiter/pianist casually serving you food and drinks, and making light conversation as you enjoy your evening at the plush french restaurant. Meet the playful, oddball characters, as they engage in a series of comical exchanges, only showing off the fickle nature of their existence, in “Dinner for Pricks”.The Experience:An evening of Intrigue, Entertainment and Fine Dining! The evening opened with a red carpet for our ‘Elite’ guests of New Delhi, who play an important role throughout the night. As they proceeded to the main entrance of their extravagant evening, they were welcomed by two young-starry eyed debutantes’ who carefully observed their passes for the night, making sure they had arrived at the right destination. Do note, these ladies seated at the entrance, examining the guests were dressed in character with their stylish evening dresses and high heels. After a cross examination of our guests, they were directed to the main arena. Like French food which relies on the quality of the ingredients and on the elaborate presentation, the walls of the stage were draped with beige satin cloth depicting the ultra decadent restaurant – Le Cigare Volant. The seating for our guests, also decorated in such a manner, that they too became an extension of the actual setting for the play, with their fancy sleek wine glasses, and elaborate table settings. The audience members were served champagne, wine and cheese throughout the entertainment experience.Once everyone had taken their seats, the play began. During the course of the play, various topics were touched upto and including debauchery, indulgence, hollow pretentiousness and pomposity, that define the very real projection of human excess in present day Delhi. Not to forget our audience, who weren't observers but actually very much a part of the entire act. A number of hilarious comments made by the narrator, who served the audience not only humour but an insight into their lives through the workings of the play. After the play, the focus is shifted to the jazz outfit who played some mellow numbers for the audience as they continued to drink and interact with the cast on what was a spectacular evening!
